600 hot food packages were distributed to students today as part of the School Meals Day campaign organized by the Carmistin Foundation

The Carmistin Foundation organized today the third edition of the campaign School Meals Day, part of the annual calendar of community events.

This year, the initiative was carried out in the counties of Valcea and Gorj, at Șirineasa Secondary School and Școala Gimnazială Constantin Brancusi, from Tg. Jiu, communities where the Carmistin Group owns farms and food production units.

The Carmistina Foundation team distributed about 600 packages of hot food, prepared under maximum hygiene and food safety conditions, from the product portfolio La Provincia, brand of Carmistin The Food Company. In addition to food and a few other little surprises, the children also received school bags from the foundation.

Andra Paraschiv, President of the Carmistin Foundation: School Meals Day has become a tradition for us and we are delighted every year by the response we receive from the local communities, teachers and students with whom we mark the day. From one year to the next, we have decided to expand the project, gradually increasing the number of beneficiaries to a total of 1,500 children.

Prof. Rodica Marinescu, director of Șirineasa Secondary School: The fact that the Carmistin Foundation gets involved in such projects aimed at the well-being of children, giving a signal about the importance of nutrition in schools is not only commendable, but also very necessary, especially for rural children.

International School Meals Day is celebrated annually in March in recognition of the importance of food in the lives of schoolchildren around the world. The event highlights the need for good nutrition for all children, regardless of their background or the circumstances of their upbringing and education. The day also promotes healthy eating habits, emphasizes the link between quality food, education and better learning, and encourages understanding of nutrition in schools.
